At Ham Radio Innovations we see products that could possibly be improved upon and serve all ham operators better. Sometimes an improvement might be to make something more convenient.. On the other hand changes can be made to help make a product safer to use. We strive diligently to see things through the eyes of our fellow amateur radio operators so as to help them enjoy their hobby and community service to a greater degree.
AT HAM RADIO
INNOVATIONS WE CURRENTLY MANUFACTURE TWO PRODUCTS.
THE BACKBONE
& THE MANHANDLE
Our first product was derived primarily for added convenience and
greater safety. Before our design began, our mobile rig was mounted above the floor
and in the center of the vehicle. It was more than an arm’s length away. This
required leaning forward and to the right in order to make adjustments as we
were driving. This meant that our eyes were off the road far too long. Thus was
born, the BACKBONE.

The fully articulating adjustable arm is designed to hold most all
remote radio control heads. We have actually tested it in excess of 150 pounds and nothing
slipped or broke. Contact us for custom install

Each MANHANDLE comes with four (4) rubber feet and necessary stainless steel fasteners. |

MANHANDLE |
|
The BACKBONE is a fully
articulating adjustable arm, designed to hold most all remote radio control
heads. When mounted correctly it is extremely solid.
Adjustment is made by simply loosening a single knob, moving the head to the
desired position, and retightening the knob. We have actually tested it in
excess of 150 pounds and nothing slipped or broke. The unit was originally designed
to hold only the remote head,
but will easily hold any radio advertised as mobile. Each plate is machined
individually for each specific model of radio from 6061-T6 aluminum and coated
with textured black epoxy powder. This creates an extremely durable finish that
is far superior to paint and gives a pleasing and matching appearance. All
fasteners are stainless steel and included with each unit. The BACKBONE alone is 11.5
inches tall and articulates at both ends and at mid-point.
We
currently produce custom BACKBONE plates for the following remote head
transceivers.

Each
BACKBONE comes standard with a flange type base which can be mounted with
the (3) screws provided. While this
method works for most users, there are those who need or desire to use a
different style of mount. The most common alternative is to install it to the
seat mounting bracket. This can be done by removing the seat bolt and replacing
it with a riser which secures the seat and then attaching the BACKBONE to the
top of the riser. The riser can be any
length that you require and will be machined to fit your determined hole size.
Our second product, The MANHANDLE, was an idea inspired by our
interest in portable radio operation. Some radio manufacturers
offer handle and foot kits as accessories that are easily installed and
aesthetically pleasing to the eye. However, the handles are usually plastic
which is not extremely durable with continued use over the normal life of the
radio. We felt that an improvement was within our capabilities.
Like the BACKBONE, each component
of the handle is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished with a black
textured epoxy coating. All fasteners are stainless steel and furnished with
each handle.
We currently manufacture
MANHANDLES for the following radios.
